Things to keep in mind when submitting photos*:
What is a megapixel?
A
megapixel is a unit of measurement signifying a million
pixels. Pixels are the tiny dots that make up a digital
image. Megapixels are commonly used to define “photo
quality”. The more megapixels a camera has, the better
and more detailed its photos.
Selecting the correct amount of megapixels is extremely
important for taking photo quality pictures. The number
of megapixels determines your photo quality “print
size”.
·
4 MP
= 8” x 10”
·
5 MP
= 11” x 14”
·
6 MP
= 16” x 20”
·
8 MP
= 20” x 30”
How can I tell if I’ve over enlarged an image?
When
a photo is printed larger than its resolution can
support, the results show curved and diagonal lines
having a stair-stepped appearance, the fine details and
subtle color transitions are also often lost. Details
and edges are also softened.
